I love visiting New York City. I was lucky to be in town for the St. Patrick’s Day parade, and I was amazed at the number of folks dressed in a variety of St. Patty’s costumes. One guy had a giant beer on his head and another was in the traditional leprechaun attire. Everywhere people wore shamrock sunglasses; everyone was having a great time. We’ve all seen NYC on New Year’s Eve. Folks are decked out in all sorts of getups. I attended a party in spring where all the guests wore masquerade masks. This never happens in my home town, but I think it is time to start a trend.
There is always a reason to wear a costume in New York City, consider the possibilities. After New Year, Mardi Gras leads into Easter followed by Cinco de Mayo, Fleet Week, Gay Pride Parade; all great excuses to celebrate, throw a party, and pick a costume. Summer means barbeques and pool parties. I dare you to come as a mermaid. Show up as Lady Liberty on the 4th and be the hit of the parade or party.
